What is coaching?

Coaching is a guided, reflective conversation that helps people think more clearly, make better decisions and move forward with confidence.

It’s not about giving advice or telling someone what to do; a coach will ask powerful questions to help clients find their own answers, developing awareness of how behaviours and attitudes may be impacting current outcomes.

Executive coaching works because it meets leaders where they actually are — in the messiness, pace and pressure of real work.

It’s personal, grounded and practical. It gives leaders the space to see themselves clearly, make better choices, shift unhelpful patterns and navigate the complexity of senior roles with more confidence and intention. When the coaching is well-designed and goal-focused, the impact is tangible: leaders change how they show up, how they lead and how they make decisions.

My training enables me to do this by:

Building our approach around your real challenges and organisational dynamics

This makes learning immediately relevant and actionable.

Helping you set clear goals and track progress

I use a range of evidence-based approaches as appropriate to your context in order to enable you to explore all options, think deeply and create long-lasting behavioural change.

Helping to bridge the “knowing-doing” gap

Most leaders know what they should do but then struggle to enact this consistently. Coaching turns real time insight into longer term change by offering appropriate feedback, challenge and reflection that gives you time to really work out what’s going on and why.

Building trust and psychological safety

I work in line with the professional standards, ethics and good-practice guidelines set out by the EMCC and the Association for Coaching, and I hold myself accountable to those frameworks in every aspect of my coaching practice.

Helping to support leaders in transition

Coaching can be hugely impactful when leaders move into new roles, take on additional responsibilities or are facing complex organisational or personal challenges.

Reducing burnout

Coaching is highly effective in preventing senior leaders from needing time away from work due to burnout. Research has shown that emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy decreased when compared from the start to the end of a coaching input.

There’s no commitment at this stage and no expectation.
